A Forest School in North Bristol, situated in a safe, gated micro woodland, nestled in the middle of a working farm, Acorns is a wonderfully friendly, relaxed group of like minded little ones and adults.

We start with a song which includes the safety instructions. Then the seasonal crafts are introduced. There’s usually a fire to toast your marshmallows on, opportunities to forage and cook and lots of time for play. Explore the mud kitchen, living yurt, fort, tepees, slack lines, newly planted woodland (600 trees from the Queens Canopy Grant), gardening area, relax in the nest with some nature books, chill on the hammock or swing- the choice is yours!

Acorns is a child led workshop. They can dip in and out of the crafts, make new friends, explore with or without you and you can relax with a cuppa chatting to other like minded adults, whilst still seeing what they are up to. You can do the crafts yourself or join in playing a game of CooWee (bit like hide and seek) if you like. And yes there is a toilet!

Acorns teaches children about the wonder of nature and how to look after and appreciate the world around us in a gentle way. There’s lots of opportunities to learn more (eg, tree ID and bug kits!) and develop crafts such as woodwork, willow weaving and textiles. We use tools in a safe, supportive way until we are all confident in using them. At the end of the session we gather in the nest for a story.
